LOVE AS LAUGHTER: bio

Love as Laughter is an indie band now residing in Brooklyn, NY. The band was formed in 1994 by vocalist and guitarist Sam Jayne as a solo project following the break-up of his previous band, Lync. The band currently features Ivan Berko on bass, Zeke Howard on drums, Andy Macleod on guitar and Robbie Lee on keyboards. In 1996 Jayne released two 7” on K Records: Planet of Children [IPU064] and Do You Experience Alien Boredom? [IPU071] as part of the International Pop Underground series. These were followed by a few more singles and L.A.L.’s first full length The Greks Bring Gifts [KLP51], all on K Records. In 1997 Love as Laughter recorded a tour split and a second full length #1 U.S.A [KLP076] both released on K. The band singed with Sub Pop around 1998 and released their debut Desolation 2000. The band followed this up with two 7” Look’s Like This City’s Broken and My Case on their new label followed by Sea To Shining Sea in 2001. That same year, Love as Laughter released the single Temptation Island. Laughter’s Filth (2005) was L.A.L.’s last release through Sub Pop Records. In 2008, the band signed with Isaac Brock's label Glacial Pace and released Holy. The band is still together and making music.
