CALM DOWN, IT'S MONDAY: bio
Calm Down Its Monday
Calm Down It's Monday is a Canadian indie rock two-piece featuring Fred Squire and Julie Doiron. Formed after the break-up of Shotgun & Jaybird, the twosome originally began playing as Blue Heeler, but changed to the name Calm Down It's Monday some time over the winter of 2007-2008. The band's first release consisted of two songs, "The Sweetest May" and "Monumental”. This 45 rpm EP was recorded by Calvin Johnson at Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, Washington. It straddles the release of two other albums, including a collaboration with Mount Eerie on Lost Wisdom (P.W. Elverum & Sun) and Doiron’s own forthcoming full length I Can Wonder What You Did with Your Day (Jagjaguwar). They are still considered active although they are working on their own projects and remain unsigned.
