STEVE FISK: bio
Steve Fisk is something of a Pacific Northwest legend. In 1982 Fisk joined the instrumental group Pell Mell who released some records on SST and Geffen. Though Fisk has worked with the likes of Nirvana and Soundgarden, he is perhaps most known for his production work with Beat Happening and on the first four Screaming Trees records. One of his more personal projects was pioneering work with samples, found sounds and tape manipulation. While these recordings (mostly between 1980 and 1987) were originally cassette-only releases on K Records, they were compiled on CD in the fall of 1993 and released by K as Over and Through The Night [KLP020].
Some of Fisk’s other recording projects have included Some Velvet Sidewalk, Treepeople, Unwound, Low, Soul Coughing, Witchy Poo and Damien Jurado. In 2001 Sub Pop released his third solo album. An all around veteran in music, Fisk also played with Pigeonhed and The Halo Benders.
